My Tribute to Dr. Voddie Baucham

Lord, raise up more courageous elders!

Yesterday I listened to two excellent sermons by Dr. Voddie Baucham: "Christians, You've Been Lied to About the Rapture" and "The Lie Many Christians Believe -- But It's NOT in the Bible." The sermons expose two reasons the Church has been so weak about speaking into our culture. Later I heard a Charlie Kirk talk, "Dear Church, Wake Up!" in which he pointed out that churches that speak clearly into cultural issues are the ones that are growing by every measure.

Intercessors for America ran my article about Dr. Bacham. I'm behind on posting, but this #ScriptureInTheNight prompted me to get this one out now:

Lord, raise up bold elders to replace those who have joined you.

Here's my article, which IFA reposted on Facebook

Lord, thank You for the life and ministry of Dr. Voddie Baucham and the insight You gave him. May it target our prayers to unravel identity politics and bring back civil discourse.

On September 25 Dr. Voddie Baucham died unexpectedly at the age of 56. He was an author, educator, and internationally known speaker, known for speaking into the issues that challenge a biblical worldview.

Joyce wrote an article that IFA posted the same day (October 14):

The War for the Next Generation

Lord, we repent of our nation’s confused relationship with the young. We murder many, abuse others, and idolize some. Help us come into proper relationship with the precious ones You love.

“Harry Potter and the Cursed Child.”

The posters shout at me when I walk by The Lyric Theatre on West 43rd Street in New York City.

And I pray against witchcraft and sorcery. I double down on this prayer as Halloween nears.

I also reflect upon the capricious relationship America has with her young.

Joyce and our team (I was co-leading a workshop) covered these and other articles on Headline Prayer Live that day:

Joyce and I will both be on Headline Prayer Live November 11, Veterans Day. Sign up to get a reminder: www.RichDrama.com/blog/post/Prayer.

I was super blessed to relaunch a dramatic sketch I wrote 21 years ago that speaks even more clearly to our culture today. It's based on the Letter to the Church of Pergamum in Revelation. "Loyalty" is about 15 minutes long, and -- with an intro and application -- is about right for a sermon or chapel.
