Here are some highlights from this year I realized I never posted about when they happened...

Princeton University

Since 2007 I've presented or co-presented a Graceworks workshop for the School of Architecture at Princeton. It's always such a blessing to be on that campus. At a certain point Christian Union had 400 students involved, making it one of the largest student body groups on campus. Pray for the Lord to continue to move among these future leaders. 

Lancaster, Pennsylvania

I was blessed to co-present a Graceworks workshop at NERC, the Northeast Regional Conference for the Society for Marketing Professional Services (SMPS) in Lancaster.

Here are some highlights from this year I realized I never posted about when they happened...

Songs of Revival Launched

This year we had our first feature-length performance of Songs of Revival: Hungry After God Himself at Trevecca Nazarene University in Nashville, TN, as a part of their weekend event How the Jesus Movement Changed the Way We Worship. It featured Michael W. Smith, who Joyce is praying over in the photo.

Back in the Kitchen


I had a booking in Tulsa and was able to have dinner on the set of A Christmas Snow. I didn't actually make it into the kitchen. Didn't want to elongate our wait for dinner, but it was quite fun to eat where I performed in my first film with lines in 2010. Since then I've performed in more than 50 films. 

Back at the Arch

A private workshop in St. Louis was blocks away from one of my favorite places on earth! We went up in it when I was in third grade, and it had a major impact on me! Sadly, the line was too long for us to make it to the top and still catch our flight, but the recently renovated museum underground was fantastic! 


Dress Rehearsal in My Home State


I'm always blessed to perform in Oregon, where I grew up and can visit family and long-time friends. On a trip in the spring I was able to perform Beyond the Chariots about Eric Liddell's victories during the 1924 Paris Olympics. It fell at a critical time to help prepare the play for performing it throughout Europe during the summer.

Lord, we call a halt to the march of death, murder, and destruction in the Middle East. We cancel all demonic assignments and call forth workers to bring in the harvest.


Satan plans to accelerate the end times in an effort to block the billion-soul harvest. So the Evil One is blowing on the conflict in the Middle East to cause a conflagration that would rob millions of the opportunity to respond to the gospel.

Tim Mahoney is using the paradigm he honed with his Patterns of Evidence films to look at patterns of Providence — which he defines as God’s presence — in America’s founding. Michael Medved asked Mahoney to turn his book, The American Miracle, into a film, and Mahoney and his team have the project underway.

I'm so blessed to be a part of the cast of a musical based on The Hiding Place, the book about Corrie ten Boom and her family's efforts to protect Jewish people during the Nazi occupation of Holland.

During the 2015 Christian Worldview Film Festival Guild one of the classes on offer included the filming of a scene in the upcoming feature  Skydog (formerly Lifestone Velocity). I got to play former U.S. Secretary of Defense, Dr. Alistair Walker, and my character was interviewed by the character played by Beth Becka, who was the acting coach on War Room and also played the principal role of Julia in what was the number one film in America when I first posted this, over Labor Day Weekend, no less! Beth went on to serve as acting coach on two other Kendrick Brothers' films:  Like Arrows and  Overcomer.

Co-directors Daniel Knudsen and Tim Kaiser had a genius idea! They got a scene filmed which called for a classroom filled with students, and the students got a great opportunity to watch an actual film in process. Throughout the class Daniel would talk to the class about his approach to directing, Beth and I gave insights as actors, and we had a major bonus! As we were setting up for the shoot/class Jim Goodwin, who was doing sound for 19 Kids and Counting at the time, popped his head into the classroom and asked if we could use his help. After he set up his gear the value of the sound equipment on hand jumped exponentially. Jim also popped in throughout the process to explain things like how he was changing the location of lapel mics to work with the camera angles. It was truly an unforgettable experience.

Later in the year I got to coach Jonathan DeRoos for his scene in Skydog while he was a student of ours at The Rocky Mountain Christian Filmmakers Camp. Other students took up roles from his scenes, so I was able to help Jonathan prepare to be on set in Detroit where the bulk of principal photography took place. In the actual scene he played the boyfriend of a character played by a former student of mine, Vickie Smith.

This is seventh feature film either directed and/or produced by twenty-something Daniel Knudsen. I've been able to perform in four of his previous films: Creed of Gold, Courageous Love, Indescribable, and I first met him on Christmas Grace. I also performed in two episodes of his series The King's Messengers.

Three films in which I perform have been selected for screening at the Christian Worldview Film Festival in March: Christmas Grace, Creed of Gold and In His Steps.

Two others were selected in the Promotional category: Princess Cut and Polycarp: Destroyer of Gods.

I played Frederick Lehman in the film Indescribable, which tells how my character and his kids wrote the hymn "The Love of God." I'm the Papa to nine children, and my beloved bride, Joyce, played the Mama beautifully.

I also got to coach the man playing Rabbi Lazer on his Hebrew.

It was chosen as a semi-finalist for the San Antonio Independent Christian Film Festival (SAICFF), where it was screened in February 2013. There it also won runner up for best original score. It also won second place over all and best direction at the Gloryreelz Film Festival in May 2013.
