When Rich performed A Clear Leading at Pocklington School, just outside of York, England, one of the instructors said that William Wilberforce wrote his first anti-slavery essay the year that John Woolman, subject of A Clear Leading spoke in York. The instructor is not alone in believing that Woolman partly inspired Wilberforce.
